Born in Alessandria in 1963, Fabio Gallia obtained a degree in Economics and Business at the University of Turin in 1987.
Since 2015 Fabio Gallia is the CEO and General Manager of Cassa depositi e prestiti, the Italian National Promotional Institution. He is also member of the Boards of Coesia S.p.A., Ariston Thermo S.p.A., Elite S.p.A., Assonime (the Italian Association of joint stock companies), Telethon Foundation and Turin’s Egyptian Museum.
His career began in 1988 at Accenture in corporate strategy and organization consulting. Two years later he joined Ersel Asset Management Sgr (Giubergia Group), an Italian asset management company, where he held increasing responsibility roles until becoming General Manager and Partner in 1999.
In 2002 he joined Capitalia Group, a leading Italian bank, as Deputy General Manager and CFO, with responsibility for Group finance and wealth management operations. In 2003 he was initially appointed Associate General Manager, overseeing the Group's Commercial Policies, then Chief Executive Officer of Fineco (a subsidiary of Capitalia), a role that he covered until 2005 when the company was incorporated into Capitalia. Between 2005 and 2007 he was CEO of Banca di Roma (another subsidiary of Capitalia) and Chairman of the Management Committee of the Group.
In 2007, he joined BNP Paribas Group where he was appointed General Manager of Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (an Italian subsidiary of BNP Paribas) in January 2008 and Chief Executive Officer in September of the same year, as well as member of the Executive Board of the BNP Paribas Group. In 2009, he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of Findomestic Banca S.p.A. (another Italian subsidiary of BNP Paribas) and in May 2012 Head of BNP Paribas Country in Italy.
In 2013, Fabio Gallia was appointed Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor of the French Republic and in 2015 Knight of Labor of the Italian Republic.
From September 2015 to March 2016 he was Vice President of the Italian Strategic Fund.
