A deal that is worth 9 billion euros will make a more efficient (and green) Italy
Italy must shift gears on renewable energy. To do so it can count on the collaboration of three national giants: Eni, Enel and Terna who signed an agreement for the synergy of their activities.
The agreement is worth 9 billion euros, according to government estimates. "The new challenge of Eni in Italy," said the CEO Claudio Descalzi, “is the transformation "of 4 thousand hectares already reclaimed and prepared to bring photovoltaic energy. They start 'with two sites in Sicily, two in Sardinia and one in Manfredonia, all dedicated to solar energy production. And it will create jobs." With a positive environmental impact - 180 thousand tons of CO2 saved per year. Global investments, said Descalzi, will rise from 700 million euros to one billion euros, for an overall green production that will reach 220 MWp in 2020.
The distribution network must be updated. That is why Terna will invest 4 billion euros in green friendly technologies in the next four years.
