The joint venture between CDP and Enel confirms its commitment to digitize Italy
Open Fiber’s commitment to bring ultra-broadband internet throughout Italy continues. The company, co-owned by CDP and Enel, will invest €40 million in the Open Fiber for Venice project to cover 80 percent of the city’s buildings with a 1,100-kilometer fiber-optic network.
The network will be built by 11,000 people and be unique in its connectivity speed, reliability, quality, and safety. The Open Fiber service, capable of 1 Gbps of transmission, is already available to Venice via subscriptions through Wind, Three (Tre) and Vodafone partners.
The Open Fiber joint venture reaffirms CDP’s commitment to accelerating Italy's digitization through the construction of ultra-fast fiber optic infrastructure. The goal is to equip the whole country with this connection, to simplify relations between citizens and public administrations, between students and schools, thereby contributing to the development of productivity and business competitiveness.
In addition to Venice, Italian cities currently covered by the Open Fiber network are Bari, Catania, Cagliari and 10 municipalities of the Emilia Romagna region.
CDP Group participates in this growth path to promote innovation and digitization in Italy: we are also pushing the future by implementing our Business Plan.
